Update your ATI video drivers, if they are up-to-date then try an older version.

This happened after you installed SP3 for XP or SP1 for Vista, I bet. Here is a kb article on how to fix the issue (this still pertains to your problem even though it says SP1). *wink wink*

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA &
STOP: 0x00000050 (0xE489B6D8,0x00000001,0xBFB24196,0x00000001)
Are usually caused by bad Ram. Do what Fusa and Crobie said, update your ATI drivers. However, run a memtest just to make sure. MS has 0x00000050 error due to memory failure. That could be either a page or your hard ram. You have your Dump from when it crashed? If so post it, it will help.

I ruled out memory just because I know he installed a SP. I have had the same issue arise here at work like four times already. hahahaha

Renaming the *.inf file just makes it so windows doesn't automatically install the display drivers. If that didn't happen and you installed the latest drivers you should have follow the steps shown.
